Daniela

Daniela lost her mother and father to the plague. She was an orphan now but she would not go to that orphanage the nuns were trying to take her to. She was planning to stow away on a steamer in the port and make the voyage to Paris. Yes, Paris was sure to be a grand place to live.

This week with the little one gone to grandmothers house I've been indulging myself in the guilty pleasure of making a doll just for the fun of it. With a vow to myself to really learn how to make doll clothing I recently purchased some patterns from Browns House Doll Patterns. Wow, what a fun site for a doll maker indeed.

Daniela's little red traveling outfit was made from one of the patterns I purchased and you know what, it really wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. I'm looking forward to learning the ins and outs of this and feeling more freedom to alter the patterns to fit my liking.

Nice job on that outfit, patterns are a great way to learn how to cut your own, I use paper towel when cutting patterns for a doll, wrap the paper towel around naked doll and cut and pin to fit, I'm giving up my secrets, but you seem to have a true talent for design
Happy New Year, oh come to my New Year Eve Roaring 20's Party, the outfits I made are to die for LOL

I adore this doll, and I like the story that goes along as well. It's strange because the doll looks like a black and white photo with a red tinted coat. Very beautiful and dreamy.

I think that Daniela is right! Paris is the place for her to be, she is so stylish that she would be sure to fit in!
I love the detail on her coat and pants! Her hat is so vogue!

Love her little red coat and hat Colleen! She is so poignantly cute! I agree with Kaerie and her statement on patterns - pretty soon you will be designing your own
doll clothes!

Wishing you a fabulous New year!

Hugs!

Thanks ladies. thanks for your secret tips Kaerie:) I was using a similar method but I gotta tell you this was way easier, got it right the first time if you know what I mean. I think with a little practice having experience in both dress making techniques will pay off. Your costuming is amazing and its clear you have great skill and experience!!

LOL Kim, those are my secret photo techniques:) not really, its all Picasa.
