My wonderful husband is a southern boy through and though. You may be wondering what the hell the title of this post means, believe me the first time my husband said this to me I thought the same thing.
I've been on a amazing journey into the art doll world of late. Learning and exploring all of these new techniques and styles. I love every second of it.
But every time I sit down to create and my very southern husband is around he says to me "don't forget to dance with the boy that brung ya" Which means in non-southern slang, to create the things that people noticed first.

So this week I've been working on some Stubby Kids. These little kids are soo much fun to make and sometimes I forget who brought me to the dance and how much fun he could be . So in other words I've been dancing to Pour Some Sugar on Me with the very special boy who brung me and shaking my sweet booty all the way.

What a great post! It's funny, I just did poorly at a show this past weekend. I prepared fast and furiously, making things I hadn't tried before and sold barely anything. It was the first time for this show for me, but I have been thinking all day about how I need to stick with the dolls that brought me! So here's to dancing with the boy who brung ya!!! Thanks for making me smile!
That is a great thing to remember Loopy!! Thanks your southern boy for this advice.
BTW the stumpy kids are darling and the first things I saw from you:) I loved them then and love them now!! It has been great to watch your dolls evolve from great to greater!!
Love ya Loopy

I swear you must be peeking into my head because that is the conclusion I came to just this week. When it comes from the heart of our soul people just know it. Keep on makin' those stumpy kids 'cause they are what brung me to your dance!

That is so funny, I love the little ears on the blue one, so cute!

"Dance with the boy who brung ya" I know "Asleep at the Wheel" did that song (I love them)...

Pat
Thanks ya'll for stopping by...ya'll crack me up!!!
I think it's just natural to want to evolve and try new things, but when we are in the business of selling our work we also need to remember our very valued customers and what they would like to see.
I get a giggle everytime my husband says that to me but he is so right..though don't tell him I said so:)
Pattee, is that really a song, I've never heard it before?
Yes, it is... It's from one of the "Asleep at the Wheel's"
CD's... I love them ~ you should google them and see if you can hear it.
Ask your hubby if he knows it's a song..
Asleep at the Wheel guys are southern boys!
