More Inspiration

Its was a gorgeous southern day here in the Big Easy yesterday so my sister and I decided to take a stroll through the French Quarter. So much color and spice in my fair city, it's always an inspiration. Now that I have been feeling better I've been trying to make a point to get these little outings in more often. Sometimes we need to step away from our clay and get a view of the world around us and I think as artists we forget to do this from time to time.

We stopped off at a little pub called Coops and had a few cold Abitas on draft. A funny young fellow in a pink fuzzy bear hat and long braids cozied up next to us at the bar. I think he might have been partaking in the libations a bit much which made for interesting company.

Though I'm still always awed by the architecture and beauty of the French Quarter I find I'm mostly drawn to the people..for me this is where the real color of the city resides,

and of course my sister from avantegarb is always one to add to that color:)

Colleen, I would LOVE to visit New Orleans! So much history, colour and
flavour! I envy you being able to stroll the French
Quarter and I agree that
people-watching would be
one of my favs too!

You do have Toronto which is a wonderful city as well. Culturallly diverse like it is here!

I am so jealous that you get to live in my favorite city! First visited 12 years ago and it was the first time I felt at home anywhere in my life, like I'd been there before. Was going to move there some years ago and be a docent in historic house museums and make vampire dolls. Really. But kids and life got in the way and I got sidetracked. Then Katrina hit, and I suppose I was grateful I hadn't yet taken the plunge, as I'd have had to live in one of the more risky areas, what with limited finances. I'd have probably lost everything. But I am so glad I got to go back last month, and will return there again someday soon! It's the most fabulous city in America!
